“Demand for Turkish pomegranates should increase even more”

There’s a satisfying demand for the Turkish pomegranates this year. One exporter expects demand to increase not only next month, but for the first few months of 2022 as well. The exporter states that clients have been very satisfied with the overall quality of the Turkish pomegranates this year.

According to Yigit Gokyigit, marketing coordinator for Turkish fresh produce exporter Alanar, it’s been a satisfying season for the company so far: “The Turkish pomegranate season is going very well. We’ve been exporting pomegranates of Alanar’s own orchards. These orchards are located in the Southern and Western parts of Turkey. In addition, we export pomegranates from our contracted growers. I think there is a satisfying demand this year for the Turkish pomegranates. Demand will increase even more, not only for next month, also for the first months of the new year. In order to fulfill the demand, we also export the 'Hicaz' variety pomegranates of our contracted growers located in various regions of the country.”

“The price for pomegranate varies, as it depends on the time of the season as well as the region in which the pomegranate is grown. Customers are very satisfied with the quality of our pomegranates. Especially the coloration is found very impressive,” Gokyigit explains. “Our major market for pomegranates is Europe. We have provided pomegranates to our customers for years in this region. I believe Turkish pomegranate has solid place in the view of European consumers. Our pomegranates also claimed a place of the major supermarkets’ shelves in Northern America and Pacific Asia for many seasons in a row.”

Pomegranates are somewhat of a special product for the Turkish exporter: “Alanar as a word has a unique meaning in Turkish language. ‘Ala’ means excellent and ‘Nar’ means pomegranate. As specified in our company name, Alanar will continue to provide its excellent pomegranates to its business partners around the world as we always do, until the end of the season.” Gokyigit concludes.
