26th Agro Debate

Abrafrutas addresses logistical challenges in the papaya chain

Yesterday, Campo Vivo – Inteligência em Agribusiness promoted the 26th Agro Debate, a major event focused on the papaya sector, with technical panels on the entire fruit chain.

The event consisted of three panels that addressed topics such as sector organization, logistical challenges in the papaya chain and market challenges and opportunities. Papaya is one of the most commercialized fruits in the country, it is also well accepted in the international market, such as Europe, USA and Canada. Every year, an average of 40 to 45,000 tons of papaya are exported per year, a very expressive number when it comes to a fruit that is transported 100% by air.

Edis Ken Matsumoto, the president of Cooperativa Agrícola Nova Aliança, when approaching a theme about the productive sector and organization, pointed out three important pillars that must be taken into account: The need, leadership and governance. For Edis Matsumoto, need generates group interest, followed by purpose, commitment and engagement. He says that the big secret is to focus on common interests for the good development of the organization.
