US: Dollar General kicks off DoorDash delivery
Dollar General has jumped into the on-demand delivery arena via a national partnership with DoorDash. More than 9,000 Dollar General stores now offer DoorDash same-day service, with the average delivery taking less than an hour, the Goodlettsville, Tennessee-based deep discount retailer said. Plans call for DoorDash delivery to become available at over 10,000 Dollar General stores by December.

Kenya: Retail chain Mulleys shuts half of its outlets
Retail chain Mulleys Supermarket has announced the closure of 5 of its 10 branches, in a shock downsizing plan that has seen hundreds of staff laid off. The supermarket which had presence in 4 counties of Nairobi, Machakos, Kitui and Makueni shut down half of its branch network as it struggled to stay afloat amid mounting debts and empty shelves.

Denmark: Coop tests cashierless format
Coop Denmark is testing a cashierless option in a convenience store to allow shoppers to use the store after closing hours. Coop members can now visit the Dagli´Brugsen store in Sengeløse outside normal opening hours and shop for groceries using the new cashierless option. The store, usually staffed and open from 7:00 hours to 21:00hours, is currently testing the new format at various times throughout the day.

UAE retailer to add 30 hypermarket outlets in Indonesia
An investor from Abu Dhabi, Lulu Group, has planned to add 30 more hypermarkets in the country including Bali in an effort to strengthen its presence in the Indonesian retail sector. The retail led by Yusuff Ali MA had previously owned 5 hypermarkets in various cities in Indonesia. In addition to the retail business, Lulu Group also sources and exports various food and non-food products from Indonesia. "This includes textiles, fruit and vegetables, fresh and frozen fish, pre-packaged food products, handicrafts, accessories, fashion, and household goods to various countries throughout all Lulu Group retail outlets," Yusuff Ali said.

Amazon is gearing up to open 2 new Amazon Fresh checkout-free stores in Chingford and East Sheen, London. Opening hours are from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, 7 days a week customers are able to use their Amazon apps to enter and put their phone away and shop for what they need. Turkey's Getir signs non-binding deal to buy shares in Sok
Reuters reported: "Turkish fast grocery-delivery company Getir has signed a non-binding deal to buy shares of Sok supermarket chain, a statement from Sok said. "In order to create synergy in the digital field, a non-binding letter of intent was signed (...) for the sale of some of the shares owned by Yildiz Holding and its subsidiaries in Sok to Getir," the statement, made to Bourse Istanbul, said.
