Logistics, rainfall and Covid-19 are all affecting vegetable prices in China

According to China's National Bureau of Statistics, the nation's consumer price index rose by 1.5 percent year-on-year in October. The data shows that food prices dropped by 2.4 percent from last year, but rose by 1.7 percent from last month due to heavy rainfall and the various effects of Covid-19.

The producer price index, measuring the costs of goods at the factory gate, rose by 13.5 percent year on year in October. That's up 2.5 percent from last year. The prices of vegetables have gone up, and it is a big contributor to the rise in the consumer price index in October.
