Mexico is the world's seventh-biggest pineapple exporter

Mexico was the seventh-biggest exporter of fresh or dried pineapple in the 2016-2020 period, with an average volume of 73,000 tons and a 1.9% share in global sales.

According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the United States was the main destination for Mexico's pineapples, with a 99.6% share and sales worth nearly $30,602,000.

Korea was the second export destination, with a 0.2% share, followed by Russia, Canada, France, Japan, Italy, Panama, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, and the Netherlands.

Mexico was the ninth-largest producer of pineapples in the world. Last year it produced 1,209,000 tons of pineapples, i.e. 16.2% more than in 2019.

This fruit is produced throughout the year. However, 33.7% of the total production, i.e. nearly 350,000 tons, is produced between June and August.
