Russia bans imports of mandarins from Turkey

Russia’s Rosselkhoznadzor has banned the supply of fresh mandarins from Turkey , noting the exceeding of permissible levels of the pesticide Chlorpyrifos in just one batch of Turkish citrus fruits. Turkey’s Ministry of Agriculture has explained that the ban applies to only one company, however, the wording on the Rosselkhoznadzor website is not very clear, and no explanations have yet been received from the official bodies of the Russian Federation.

Therefore, it is necessary to wait for official explanations, and further information in our article will relate to the scenario with a complete ban on the supply of Turkish mandarins to the Russian market.

Industry experts almost immediately called this decision politically motivated. Indeed, even in the text of the resolution itself, there is no question of systematic violations, but only a reference to one batch of products is given.
