The call for ideas launched by Semmaris as part of the Agoralim project has attracted over 200 contributions

Semmaris, the organizing authority of Rungis International Market, has just closed the call for innovation launched in July as part of the Agoralim project. A total of 234 contributions were submitted by local authorities, economic and institutional players, representatives of the agricultural world, associations and the general public.

For three months, stakeholders were able to express themselves and submit their proposals on the dedicated website www.agoralim.fr, via a questionnaire on the 5 main themes of the project. Some 234 contributions were submitted: 70 concerned agriculture and agri-food, 67 logistics, 47 healthy food, 42 employment and training and 8 the sites for the future agro-ecological centre in the north of Ile-de-France.

The closing of the call for innovation officially marks the start of the work of the committee of experts, which will meet on November 4th under the chairmanship of Jacques Attali and in the presence of Stéphane Layani, President of Rungis Market. The analysis and selection of the ideas will precede a phase of dialogue with the selected project leaders in order to study the implementation methods and identify with them the possibilities of partnerships.

The results of this dialogue will contribute to the drafting of a report that will be submitted to the Prime Minister at the end of the year.

"The success of this call for innovative ideas, which generated 234 contributions, demonstrates the interest of the people of Ile-de-France in the Agoralim project. Through this process of co-construction of a sustainable food hub, we are proud to contribute to the implementation of an ambitious project that is close to the ground. Our committee of experts is now preparing to enter the contribution evaluation phase under the chairmanship of Mr Jacques Attali, whom I would like to thank once again for his support and confidence," says Stéphane Layani, Chairman of Rungis Market.

Presentation of the Agoralim project
Agoralim is a multi-site project that will be located in and around the eastern part of the Val d'Oise and will cover the entire food value chain, from agricultural production to distribution and processing. It will include a site dedicated to agricultural production, based on the principles of agro-ecology, planned for the Triangle de Gonesse and one or more distribution platforms located nearby. This innovative project aims to encourage the Ile-de-France's agricultural economy and boost economic activity in the north of the region. It should create between 3,000 and 5,000 jobs.

Agoralim is a territorial project. It aims to meet 3 major challenges in terms of food :
- supporting consumers' new expectations for better food and the transformation of local agriculture ;
- the increase in the population of the Ile-de-France region, which is leading to a rise in demand for fresh quality products and therefore requires secure supplies ;
- a better distribution of logistical flows between the North and South of Ile-de-France, in view of the environmental challenge.

Agoralim will not have any physical sales areas, with the exception of a producers' floor. It will nevertheless share several characteristics with Rungis Market: a place dedicated to fresh food and reserved for professionals; a place structuring the food sector and chain, allowing optimisation and pooling of logistics flows and therefore a reduction in the environmental footprint; and finally, a place for training and innovation.
