As of August, Colombia has exported 65,783 tons of Hass Avocado, i.e. 47% more than in the same period of 2020. These exports amount to 150,706,046 dollars, proving the great reception that the Colombian Hass avocado has in the 30 international destinations it currently reaches. The Corporation of Producers and Exporters of Hass Avocado of Colombia, Corpohass, held the first National Table of Colombian Hass Avocado Exporters to continue consolidating this product in the different markets.
The event was attended by the directors of 27 exporting companies, which account for more than 85% of the country's Hass avocado exports. Corpohass presented the MEGA PAIS 2025 initiative to continue positioning this variety internationally. This initiative seeks to consolidate Corpohass as a leading union to achieve Hass avocado exports amounting to 400 million dollars by exporting the quality fruit to the European, American, and Asian markets.
The ambitious strategies of the MEGA PAIS 2025 initiative include: ensuring quality from the producer to the final consumer, implementing education and training programs for all the actors in the chain, creating a real-time information system to achieve solid data on the industry, analyzing their direct participation in the different organizations' avocado international promotion programs, and strengthening relationships with the entire export ecosystem.
The installation of the table allowed them to consolidate 11 strategies that will determine the work that the corporation and the exporters will carry out from now on. The group also created a delegated commission to monitor the progress made. The commission is made up of 8 representatives of exporting companies.
