France: The Collective of the traditional shallot of Brittany wants to federate in order to better promote and protect

The Collective of the traditional shallot of Brittany wants to federate all actors of the sector around a common objective: to better promote the traditional shallot of Brittany and therefore protect its market from the competition. This association, created last August, currently represents 67 actors of the sector and is structured around two colleges: the producers/multipliers and the traders. In its logic of gathering, the association invites and encourages all professionals, whether they are members of a PO or independent, to participate in this collective action.

Focused on quality
For more than a century in Brittany, the actors of the sector have been adopting practices that combine the development cycle of the bulb with the climate conditions of the environment (specific harvesting conditions, natural drying in the fields, mostly manual operations). It is the mastery of these techniques that ensures the sanitary and organoleptic quality of the traditional shallot found on the market.

A specialized agricultural engineer
The association has recruited Camille Le Monnier, graduate from the Ecole Superieure of Agriculture in Angers, with a Master’s degree in Food Identity. Her mission: to structure a qualitative approach that can protect the traditional shallot market and ensure the continuation of the sector in the current production zone.
