Morocco creates a platform for the export of fruit and vegetables, setting reference prices

Six entities in the Moroccan fruit and vegetable sector are preparing the creation of a large platform for the export of horticultural products, born of an agreement sealed at the Regional Chamber of Agriculture of Sus-Massa.

The project was launched in the framework of an event promoted by the Moroccan Interprofessional Federation of Producers and Exporters of Fruits and Vegetables (FIFEL) and the National Association of Packers and Exporters of Fruit and Vegetables (ANCEFEL), together with Guadix Log, a company specialized in transport and logistics. Under this agreement, all the necessary modalities to complete the creation of this trading platform have been created by consensus.

The project
This horticultural export platform will be set up to meet the demands and requirements of exporters in terms of quantity, but also quality. The objective is also to set a reference price, in line with prices on the export markets.

As for the commitments of the signatory parties, FIFEL is committed to ensure coordination with all partners to promote and support the implementation of this project. The Association of Agricultural Producers of Chtouka (ACPA) will encourage its producer-members to support it. Besides, there is also going to be a promotion of the advantages of this platform, which will allow exporters to supply the varieties and quantities demanded by external markets, in accordance with quality and food safety standards. For ANCEFEL, it is a matter of convincing packers and exporters to obtain inputs from this platform.

The recently created National Association of Fruit and Vegetable Road Transporters (ANTREFEL) will coordinate with ANCEFEL the mobilization of road transport trucks for export.

The National Union of Associations of Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Markets of Morocco (UNAMGLFM) will put its expertise (wholesale market) at the service of this platform, while the Moroccan Association of Exporters of Products to Africa and Abroad (AMEPAFRIC) has to ensure the marketing of the products on the sub-Saharan market and seal agreements on the basis of annual contracts between producers and road freighters.
