Name change into Friendly Organic Foods

Ecuadorian organic banana grower switches operations

Certified organic banana exporters since 2004, Guayaquil-based company Exporganic S.A. switches operations and is now Friendly Organic Foods S.A. The new company merges all operations under one company and introduces some changes and additions to its product line-up.

Since the beginning of 2021, and after enduring tough pandemic times, the company renewed Fairtrade certification with FLO and soon after became Fairtrade USA certified as well. This opened new market opportunities which soon materialized with Fairtrade organic banana sales to both European and U.S. markets. Future growth of Fairtrade sales look promising and will surely become main component of the company‘s worldwide sales.

Along with the commercial name changes came some image revamping as well, with a new image for the Friendly Bananas brand with new lively designs on boxes and labels.

In 2021, Friendly Organic Foods is moving along with its partners in Europe and the USA to increase market coverage for the near future. This includes several trial shipments to new customers to present its fruit and letting them taste product quality and assuring supply capabilities.

Future plans include moving forward with its Friendly dried fruit snack line-up, a launch that was halted by the pandemic. “Upcycling of good fruit rejected from exports into healthy snacks is a great way to reduce food waste and has a strong impact on our core environmental and social efforts,” says general manager Adriana Teran.

Being a family business from the heart, the company wants to reinforce its “Friendly” behavior, which encompasses its commitment to social and environmental actions.
