Pink Lady America celebrates 25 years

The world’s celebration of food photography and film, Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year, is open for 2022 entries. And new to the renowned competition is a category dedicated to North American photographers, sponsored by Pink Lady® America. The sponsorship is part of a year-long celebration of the 25th anniversary of the beloved Pink Lady® apples brand. After 25 years in the US market, Pink Lady® apples is the 6th overall in the category -- and the brand is ramping up efforts with retail and consumer marketing.

Sponsorship of the esteemed Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the year is a key activation for the brand this year and next. 2021 was a record-breaking year for the competition: over 10,000 entries were submitted from more than 70 countries across the world. ‘During my years as a judge, then as Chairman of the Judges, I've watched the Awards grow into one of the most important and much-loved photographic competitions in the world,’ says David Loftus, Chair of Judges, ‘Every year, more amateurs and professionals, young and old, compete against each other anonymously, making it truly universal and democratic, anyone with a talent can win.’

Partnering with the global competition is just one way that Pink Lady® America is investing in consumer marketing and reinvigorating brand presence. The brand’s website will soon relaunch and new email and social media marketing strategies are in place. A consumer giveaway is planned for the end of October, and retail promotions are in development. This is all supported with a push for branded packaging, point of sale and other materials to strengthen awareness both in store and online.

“Pink Lady® is the most globally recognized apple brand, and our goal is to support it in a way that continues its important legacy in our market. Everyone from the grower to the consumer benefits when we protect and enhance the brand, and the quality of fruit,” says Kathryn Grandy, Chief Marketing Officer of Pink Lady America® and Proprietary Variety Management.

It creates an exciting opportunity to honor photographers who creatively capture the robust and diverse food culture across North America. We look forward to celebrating the excellence that American food photographers bring to the table.
