Huelvasol by Agriplast

A coverage of merely 90 microns throughout two strawberry tree campaigns

Reducing costs and environmental impact in agriculture has become, in recent years, one of the key elements for a sustainable development. In the specific case of greenhouse farming, one of the key components that requires attention is the covering film.

Technological advances have not only improved the characteristics of plastic films but have also made it possible to achieve these results while reducing their thickness. The latter is not an insignificant factor, because it means that less new material has to be released into the environment.

This is the approach taken by Agriplast, which has been investing for years in the latest technologies and in the research of increasingly high-performance materials; the company's new fleet of machines is in fact made up exclusively of 5- and 7-layer installations, making it possible to develop a series of very high-quality products.

A clear example of the results achieved by the company is the film for covering strawberry orchards called Huelvasol, a 7-layer film with a thickness of just 90 microns that can last for two campaigns.

As the name suggests, this product has been developed on the strawberry orchards near the city of Huelva, in Spain, which is renowned worldwide for this type of cultivation. After ten years of business in this area, Huelvasol plastic film has definitely proved to be the best cover for strawberry cultivation.

In addition to the advantages due to a 25% reduction in thickness compared to the films previously used on these crops, the film has excellent optical characteristics, with the presence of EVA coopolymer and high-quality mineral fillers, which give it a high luminous transmittance; it stimulates the growth of the cultivation and contributes to a balanced control of temperatures in order to avoid excessive temperature changes inside the greenhouse.
