Czech Republic: Lower apple harvest, higher pear harvest

In the Czech Republic, a below-average apple harvest is expected this year, Radio Prague International has reported. At 111,500 tons, the harvest would be about 5% below last year's numbers and 6% below the five-year average, according to estimates by the Central Agricultural Control and Testing Institute.

In contrast, the pear harvest could be 21% higher than last year at 7,000 tons.

Apples are grown on about half of the 13,300 hectares of orchards in the Czech Republic, making them the main product of fruit growers.
