China: Yulin pomelo season sees a bumper harvest

The Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, and local pomelos in Yulin are already on the market in large numbers. This year, the city has a bumper harvest of pomelo, with an estimated output of 280,000 tons, showing a good situation in which production and sales are booming. The city's pomelo planting area is 12,000 hectares, and the output is expected to be 280,000 tons. Yulin pomelo mainly includes honey pomelo and shatian pomelo. Honey pomelo starts to be picked before the Mid-Autumn Festival every year, and a large number of shatian pomelos will be harvested and put on the market in late October.

Every year, Sanhong honey pomelo is the first to go on the market since mid-August. After the frost falls in October, Shatian pomelo will be available again. This year, the production of various pomelos is very impressive. The pomelos picked in the season are full of flesh and full of citrus fragrance, making them the first choice for many citizens to give gifts on the Mid-Autumn Festival. In Yulin, the price of pomelo from other places is relatively low, while the price of local pomelo is obviously higher. The price of ordinary fruit is 7 RMB/kg, and the price of high-quality fruit is more than 8 RMB /kg.

According to industry insiders, the sales of mooncakes before the Mid-Autumn Festival have boosted the sales of festive fruits, and pomelo has the advantages of storage durability, rich nutrition, and sufficient moisture. It is welcomed by many consumers and customers who come to buy gift packages every day and these pomelos are sent to relatives and friends, which leads to rising sales.
