Bringing berries into the spotlight for September

Strong volumes of raspberries and blackberries

Naturipe, a farmer-owned producer and marketer of berries and value-added products continues its inaugural “Summer of Snacking” campaign, as fresh raspberries and blackberries enter their late-summer peak season.

Naturipe’s “Summer of Snacking” celebration aims to help customers sell more berries by highlighting the benefits of healthy snacking done right. Naturipe Farms’ suite of delicious fresh berries continue to be in peak season. Consumers can still enjoy raspberries, blackberries, strawberries and blueberries.

Blueberries are part of Naturipe's inaugural “Summer of Snacking” campaign, which feature a host of berries.

Raspberries
Raspberries are now at their peak (and through the month of September) for conventional and organic varieties. Naturipe offers a 100 percent proprietary raspberry program from multiple growing regions featuring its Centennial variety. Current production areas include Jalisco, Guanajuato, Michoacán and Baja California. Naturipe has tailored its production areas to offer customers conventional and organic raspberries year round. Significant growth will continue in its raspberry program over the next two years in Mexico as Naturipe’s proprietary variety has performed well for the consumer, the customer and the grower. The next generation of raspberries are in the pipeline that will further enhance the consumer experience.

Blackberries
Blackberries hit strong volumes this month. Naturipe is proud of the strides it has made to differentiate its blackberry program in Mexico. Current production areas include California, with Mexico starting in September with earlier than normal production in Michoacán and Guanajuato. Naturipe seeks new growing areas in the south of the country, while simultaneously accelerating growth in Central Mexico and Baja California. It continues to see yearly growth as production is expanded. Its breeding program is making substantial advancements in its next generation of proprietary blackberry varieties. The future for Naturipe blackberries from Mexico will see significant results in the next couple years.

Strong promotable volumes of raspberries are still available as the transition to fall begins.

Naturipe's variety improvement programs for raspberries and blackberries are focused on its commitment to developing new varieties that will continue delivering on consumer demand for the overall eating experience. Naturipe offers its customers a wide array of pack sizes, including conventional 6oz, 12oz and 18oz and organic 6oz and 12oz. Its raspberries and blackberries are available from multiple cooler locations.

Promotional volumes are available on all packs and marketing tools and programs are available to help maximize sales.

“We have strong promotable volumes of raspberries and blackberries as we transition into fall,” says CarrieAnn Arias, Naturipe vice-president of marketing. “As our customers help their shoppers with school lunches, after school snacks and weekday dinners, we are providing the delicious, nutritious berries shoppers demand.”
