Gippsland farmers will have to wait weeks for floodwater to recede

Some farmer in East Gippsland will have to wait a month until floodwater recedes from their land; farmers around Orbost have received more than 200 millimetres of rain in the past fortnight. Some now have to wait until the Snowy River recedes enough to start pumping water off their land. Others just have to rely on Mother Nature and wait for their land to drain and dry.

The flooding is just the latest hurdle for farmers in East Gippsland, who also battled droughts and fires over the past three years.
