Hungarian apple crop likely to reach 520,000 tons

Hungary's apple crop is likely to reach 520,000 tons this year, according to a projection by professional association FruitVeB and regional apple-growers organization ÉKASZ.

Spring frost and cold weather have delayed the harvest by about 10 days. FruitVeB noted that Hungary harvests 800,000-900,000 tons of apples in a good year and 300,000-400,000 tons in a bad year. Last year, the apple harvest reached 399,000 tons, according to data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
