Fruit rots away at British grower due to staff shortages

2021 is the 'most difficult season ever'. This is what British soft fruit grower Tim Chambers told NOS. "Normally we have almost two thousand European seasonal workers here to help pick, but this summer we have about 25% less people." As a result, "tons of fruit" are rotting away. "You spend the whole year working on the crop. It's so disappointing that you then have to let it wither away. I don't go to those fields anymore, I just don't want to see them."
