Superpippo Fruit

Sicilian grapes on the main international markets

"Our cultivation ranges from early white, red and black grapes with and without seeds to medium-late grapes, also with and without seeds. Our strength lies in our ability to combine tradition and innovation, concentrating on the latest varieties and techniques," said Pippo Caggia, 62 years old, director of the Sicilian Superpippo Fruit company.

"The harvest started a few months ago in the areas around Palma di Montechiaro, in the province of Agrigento, where the soil conditions and climate are particularly favorable for growing early grapes. In August we will continue with the traditional Italia grapes, which will keep us busy until Christmas."

"We always start by considering the fertility of the soil in order to guarantee the best grapes for our domestic and foreign customers. Our markets are all over the world, thanks to refrigerated storage. The grapes go to the Middle East, to North America and to Europe, with Poland as the newest market."

"Our cultivation extends over the area between Mazzarrone (CT) and Licodia Eubea (CT), but we also rely on reliable suppliers who follow our same production management in the areas of Palma di Montechiaro (AG), Acate (RG) and Santa Croce Camerina (RG). We closely monitor the lots throughout the year."

"Thanks to our dedication and commitment, the grapes are highly valued by consumers. Our attention to sustainability is directly proportional to the value we place on our work and our reputation. The workforce is highly qualified and this season, despite the pandemic, we had no problems in recruitment. Pruning, treating the bunches, harvesting, selection and packing in the field are the most important phases, to which we devote a lot of attention and resources."

SuperPippo Fruit has all the necessary certifications for the international trade in fruit and vegetables. The company has an average annual production of 600 tons of early varieties and 4,500 tons of late varieties.

Working with and for Pippo Caggia means sweating in the vineyards and breathing in a lot of dust, but it also means getting to know farming at first hand. It's the right combination of modernity, tradition and family. From the stories of his childhood spent on the land with his father Raffaele, to the enthusiasm for the marriage of his daughter Adriana to Claudio Cambio (pictured above) on 17 July 2021.
