Choosing to invest in a new product is one of the most difficult decisions for any entrepreneur. Yet there is always someone who has the courage and talent to bet on new market challenges: FreshPlaza has spoken to with Giovanni Iuvara, administrator at ProAgri, a Sicilian company specializing in the commercialization of high-quality vegetables which has introduced a new packet of PGI fresh cherry tomatoes that also features a bottle of tomato sauce. This practical solution enables consumers to enjoy a high-quality product in both forms.
"Pro Agri, a packaging company partner of Consorzio del pomodoro di Pachino Igp, is passionate about doing things well. This is the essence of a new packaging solution: taking care of the tiniest details and conveying the hard work and dedication put into it to consumers. Our marketing department interacts with producers daily, always leading to new ideas and projects."
New ProAgri packets containing one 500 g bunch of PGI cherry tomatoes from Pachino and a 330 g bottle of tomato sauce are placed in cardboard crates measuring 40x60 cm (88 packaged per pallet).
Quantities (500 g of tomatoes and 330 g of sauce) are well-balanced too, as final consumers are free to choose how to use the products: the sauce can be used for a pasta dish and the tomatoes are perfect for a salad, depending on the time available. The produce used to make the sauce comes from the same crops where fresh tomatoes are harvested by hand, so the quality is the same.
What the box looks like once it has been opened
"Discovering the special products contained in our new box gives the purchasing of tomatoes a new meaning. I think our idea of placing fresh tomatoes and a bottle of tomato sauce in the same box helps consumers choose high quality, as the quality of the sauce is the same of the fresh produce!"
"We are the first company to create a combination like this with PGI tomatoes. The feedback we have collected from our partners has made us realize we are on the right track."
