Thanks to a specific genetic selection that allows the cultivation of watermelons in Veneto and Puglia, the La Grande Bellezza Italiana network of companies can offer a new medium-sized watermelon weighing 3-4 kg.
"From the research and study of one of the most important seed companies, La Grande Bellezza Italiana watermelon was born, with a flavour, compactness, color and size that can satisfy even the most demanding consumer. Thanks to the cultivation in northern and southern Italy, we can offer a continuous supply until September to serve at least 20,000 consumers," said President Antonio Cipriani.
The new watermelon project has already made its way to a major retail chain, which immediately put it on the shelves, but this opportunity is open to everyone. The watermelon is basically seedless, with only a few small white edible seeds.
"We grow less per hectare, which means higher quality, expressed in Brix value and dry matter content. The flesh is very firm, which makes it very tempting. By controlling the cultivation and limited sales, among other things by making plans before the season starts, a recognized brand can get the best out of its offer," said Leonardo Odorizzi, one of the key players in the company's network.
A lot of attention is paid to the packaging. Each watermelon has a label, and the watermelons are packed in 60x40 and 30x40 cartons. The former has a capacity of 8 to 12 pieces, the latter of 6 pieces.
The management of the supply starts with identifying the seed and continues with the monitoring of all the phases of the process, right up to the moment of purchase, in compliance with our specifications under the rigorous supervision of our certifiers,” concluded Cipriani.
