We harvest fennel in the best areas of Italy, depending on the time of year and the fennel from Fucino (Abruzzo, Italy), situated at high altitude, is really good during the summer, because it' s pale in color, tender and has an excellent taste. We've just ended the Romagna crop with satisfying results; however, the market is consistently weak," explained Marco Babbi of Finò.

The flat price trend, with unexceptional consumption, is accompanied by an increase in the cost of raw materials, a factor that affects the packaging.
In recent months, packaging costs have risen dramatically, by up to 30 per cent. Raw material prices have risen even more for the companies that produce packaging products.
"These are costs that we have to charge, otherwise there is no budget, as the market for a vegetable like fennel has not been profitable in months."

Good products are also available in the large-scale retail trade. In this period, fennel is also highly sought after abroad, such as in France, the Netherlands and Germany. A fresh fennel, like the one from our growers in Fucino is appreciated by consumers. Thanks to the different packaging proposals, with recyclable and environmentally friendly materials, we can meet all needs," concluded Babbi.
