Bas Rensen has run Flamingo Flowers in the Netherlands for 16 years. Now, he's decided to take on a new professional challenge. Bas used to be Flamingo Flowers and FV SeleQt's Managing Director.
As of July 1, 2021, he'll start as Managing Director of Bioworld/QLP. He'll also join the Best Fresh Board. Growth was part of Bas's daily focus. This step is the first on his new personal growth path.
"When I started Flamingo Flowers, it was a pioneering era. I'm enormously grateful for the drive and dedication of my many wonderful colleagues, growers, suppliers, and customers. Together we all contributed to the growth of all parties involved," says Bas
"You can measure success in many ways. In numbers, it's the bottom line that counts. But above the line, it's the partnerships. These make me reflect with great pride on my role at Flamingo Flowers. Together we grew from nothing to a respectable international market player."
"Deep in my heart, I miss those pioneering days. Now, I think it's time to explore new territories. I've found a new professional future, not in plants and flowers, but vegetables—fresh Fast Moving Goods of a different kind. I'm joining the Bioworld / QLP board. They specialize in organic vegetables. I'll use my expertise to contribute to the global expansion of organic vegetables. That's to supermarkets, wholesalers, and foodservice companies," explains Bas.
"I have two focal areas: growing Bioworld’s portfolio and stimulating organic fresh products' expansion. I have a great affinity for sustainability. And I'm convinced of the organizational structure endorsed by Bioworld / QLP. It fits seamlessly with my market vision. I strongly believe that our growing locations should function as true sources. Call it vertical integration or direct farming. Also, I place much emphasis on strong future partnerships with key growers."
