Ica expects to export more blueberries than in the previous season

The 2021 blueberry export campaign has already started in Ica. According to official figures from the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa), 21.65 tons of this product were certified in the first month of the campaign, which takes place between May and December of each year. The first shipments were destined for the Netherlands (15.50 tons), Thailand (5.43 tons), and the United Arab Emirates (0.72 tons).

This year, Ica expects to export a higher volume of blueberries than the 7,426 tons this region exported in the previous season.

The main destination countries for Ica's berries are the United States, the Netherlands, China, England, the United Kingdom, Canada, Hong Kong, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Belgium, Brazil, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Panama, Kuwait, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Guatemala.

Ica, Pisco, and Pampas de Villacuri are the region's most important blueberry production sites and they grow different varieties, such as Ventura, Biloxi, Magica, Bella, Emerald, Bonita, Rocio, Springhigh, Ozblu Raquelle, and Snowchaser blueberries.

The blueberry has become the new agro-export jewel of Ica and other producing regions, such as La Libertad, Lambayeque, Piura, Ancash, and Lima.
