The Spanish-French-Italian-Portuguese citrus contact group will meet on June 9 online to analyze the 2020/2021 campaign and future forecasts, among other issues. The meeting will be held by representatives of the sector associations of the four countries and heads of their respective administrations.
Representatives of the Citrus Management Committee of Ailimpo, Intercitrus, the agricultural organizations UPA, COAG, Asaja, Agri-food Cooperatives, and Fepex will participate on behalf of Spain.
Italy will also have a big sectoral participation that will include the heads of the OI Ortofruttaitalia, Cia, Unaproa, Coldiretti, Italia Ortofrutta Unione Nazionale, Confagricoltura, Fruitimprese, and Ismea organizations.
The Portuguese delegation will be made up of Cacial, Frusoal, Cothn, and FNOP/CAP. The French delegation will be made up of representatives of the Association of Organizations of Producers of Fruits de Corse.
The Spanish administration will be represented by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food of the Spanish Embassy in France, Maria Jose Hernandez, and by the Minister of Agriculture of the Spanish Embassy in Rome, Juan Prieto Gomez.
The citrus contact group was created within the framework of the Mixed Spanish-French-Italian-Portuguese Committee for fruits and vegetables. They analyze the campaigns and specific issues of each product, agreeing on joint actions that are then approved in the plenary session of the Joint Committee.
Fepex and the integrated Associations have promoted and participated in practically all the contact groups and plenary sessions of the Joint Committee there have been since the Committee was constituted in December 1997. The Association integrated into Fepex, Asociafruit, will participate in today's meeting.
