The value of Greek export products could increase by 3.3 percent in the current year, says Elisa Hübel of the Griechenland Zeitung. This is the assumption of numerous Greek export companies, referring to data and forecasts of Greek statistics authority ELSTAT.
In the first quarter of the current year, according to ELSTAT, exports of Greek products to Germany increased by as much as 23.37 percent. The value was around 650 million euros. The export of tobacco (+211%) and fresh fruits (+58.3%) had increased the most.
Statistics from Saudi Arabia testify that exports of Greek products more than doubled in the first three months of the current year. While in 2020 the value of goods amounted to 68.2 million euros, it now reached 141.2 million.
Also noteworthy is a success in the export of Greek strawberries. Between May 1 and 27, it was possible here to sell 37.7% more abroad than in the previous year. Thus, strawberry exports in May reached 57,537 tons - a historical record. Watermelon exports increased by 17% during this period. In contrast, exports of cherries (-28%) and apricots (-42%) decreased significantly in May.
