Through a new progress report, the EDEKA and WWF partnership, aimed at sustainability, once again demonstrates its commitment to environmental protection and resource conservation. Particularly in times of the Corona pandemic, people have learned to take more care of themselves and each other. At the same time, the need to include nature and the environment is growing. The alliance of EDEKA and WWF has been bringing more environmental protection into the supply chains and shelves of the EDEKA Group since 2009."
"In order to reach consumers even more efficiently, we have positioned communication on sustainability more clearly. The partnership works on four societal challenges that we put in the foreground. They are: Biodiversity conservation, climate protection, resource conservation and protection of freshwater ecosystems. Our progress report shows in detail what contributions we have already made to achieving the goals," Markus Mosa, CEO of the EDEKA ZENTRALE Foundation, explains.
"In the Partnership for Sustainability, we are working systematically to make the EDEKA supply chains in the private label sector more sustainable. The successes we have already achieved help spur others to get involved in environmental protection. In this way, we use the EDEKA partnership as a lever for change. After all, food retailers influence both consumer decisions and the manufacturer side with their product range and can steer them in the direction of sustainability," says Eberhard Brandes, Managing Director of WWF Germany.
