Fifteen arrests made over attempt to burn down Lagos Fruit Market

Lagos police officers have arrested 15 suspects for trying to burn down the Ikosi/Ketu fruit market. The suspects are members of a gang called the Aiye Confraternity; they had also tried to set fire to some property and shops within the vicinity of the market. The police said most of those arrested had been on their wanted list for crimes committed within and outside the area.

It was learnt that the suspects, along with others atill at large, broke into the market around 6:00 am on Wednesday and engaged the security men on duty in a fight.

According to Lagos Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, a team of policemen was dispatched to the market when information about the attack was received.
