Chinese lychee exports may break new records

On May 17, under the supervision of Conghua Customs, a branch of Guangzhou Customs, 4 shipments of a total of 1.9 tons of fresh Feizixiao lychees worth 16,100 US dollars were exported by air, marking the start of the peak lychee export season of the Guangzhou customs area.

Lychee is a well-known fruit from Southern China that has been favored by the international market for many years. Over the years, it remained at the top of Guangdong's local fruit exports in terms of export volume. According to statistics, in 2020, the export volume of fresh lychees in the customs area of Guangzhou Customs exceeded 1,500 tons, with a value of over 4.3 million US dollars.

This year is an on-year. At the same time, the harvest is earlier than usual, and the first shipment from this customs area was one week earlier than last year. In the period between April 29 when the first shipment was made and May 17, 350.07 tons of lychees with a value of 1.514 million US dollars were exported by the area, showing an increase of 91.4% and 125.7% respectively year-on-year.

"We have received orders from all over the world. On May 17 and 18 alone, 8 shipments were made. This year's exports are expected to hit new highs.” Liu, manager of Conghua Hualong Fruit and Vegetable Preservation Co., Ltd. shared.
