Herman van Rooijen, Groda AGF the Netherlands

"Good pear demand, imported apples selling well despite large supply"

Dutch top fruit sales are satisfactory. That's according to Groda AGF's Herman van Rooijen. "The pear season had a long run-up. As long as the ball's in the Belgians' court, they determine the price. The pear season's now drawing to a close, and prices are rising. Good 65s are fetching €0.80 to €0.90," he says.

Chilean Elstars

"The apple market's been good all year. Dutch Elstars are now as good as off the market. But there are plenty of imported apples. These are selling well too. Elstars from Chile are getting as much as €36/box. Despite the large overseas supply, prices are still high," concludes Herman. He's expecting a stable market in the coming weeks.
