Asparagus export value increased by an average of 20.5% for all exporting countries in 2019

China is by far the world's largest asparagus producer (89%); increasing year-round production of asparagus is projected to boost market growth, as it is now grown year-round and available in the market any time of the year. The main export markets the US and EU also have important domestic production sectors according to 2021 Industry Report on Asparagus by Tridge

Worldwide sales for asparagus exports by country totalled US$1.4 billion in 2019. The export value increased by an average of 20.5% for all exporting countries in 2019 compared to 2015 when the shipments of asparagus were valued at USD 1.1 billion.

From 2018 to 2019, the value of worldwide exported asparagus expanded by 3.6%.  Among the top asparagus exporters, the fastest-growing since 2015 were: Denmark (1,237%), Canada (82.9%), Mexico (66.8%) and Belgium (60.1%)

The increasing demand for organic asparagus is driving the global
asparagus market. The market for organic asparagus is mainly dominated by North America and Europe, with the regions substantially increasing their imports and the production of organic asparagus in recent years. In 2019, Europe was the fastest-growing market for asparagus.
