Last year, the pandemic prevented the celebration of Organic Food Iberia. This year the fair will return to Ifema Madrid on September 8 and 9.
Organic Food Iberia was inaugurated in 2019, as a collaboration between Diversified Communications and Ifema. The fair was a major success. It generated strong interest in the media and was attended by nearly 5,420 professionals from Spain, Portugal, and other European countries who came to meet with almost 500 exhibitors. It became one of the 20 best fairs for professionals in Spain, according to the Institute of Coordinates of Governance and Applied Economics.
According to the latest report on the industry carried out by Ecovalia, sales of organic products in Spain have increased by 35% during the last year, the area devoted to this production has increased by 38% during the last 5 years, and the number of employees in this industry has increased by 40%. Spain is also the largest organic producer in Europe and the third biggest one in the world, so there's no doubt there is no better time to celebrate this fair.
The health crisis caused by COVID-19 did not allow the event to take place last year, but after speaking with exhibitors, regions, and buyers, the organizers saw a clear need to organize the fair this year so that the industry can come together, do business, and celebrate the growing importance of the sector.
"We are excited about the decision to hold the fair from September 8 to 9," stated Diego Granado Cumbres, Secretary-General of Ecovalia, the main sponsor of the event.
Organic Food Iberia will be the first face-to-face agri-food fair to be held in Spain after a hard year and it will be a boost of morale for an economy in need of exciting gestures and actions.
