The Association of Fruit Exporters of Chile AG (ASOEX) has reported that the country has exported 1,839,723 tons of fresh fruits to the different markets of the world so far in the 2020-2021 season, i.e. 0.3% more than in the same period last season.
Asia is the main market so far with 37.8% of the total exported, followed by the United States with 26.8%. Europe ranks third with 17.9%, followed by Latin America with 15.4%, the Middle East with 2.4%, and Canada with 1.9%.
Chilean fruit shipments to the Asian market have increased by an outstanding 16.41% to date over the same period of the 2019-2020 campaign. Exports to Latin America also stand out as they have had a 7.3% increase so far.
Meanwhile, exports to the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Canada have decreased by 10%, 17%, 35%, and 1% respectively.
The country's main fruits exports by volumes are table grapes, with a share of 28.7% of total exports, cherries with 19.2%, apples (17%), plums (6.6%), blueberries (6.4%), pears (4.8%), nectarines (3.9%), avocados (3.9%), and mandarins (3.4%).
