Focusing on high quality to obtain maximum economic results

"We have always focused on high quality in order to obtain the maximum economic result from our productions. This is why we opted for plum tomatoes," reports Giuseppe Ottone, sole administrator of a company located in Macconi (RG), a stone's throw from the sea.

"For years, our strong point has been SV1201TC plum tomatoes by Seminis, which continue doing well on all Italian markets. It is a rustic variety which, over the years, has remained in line with the principles of sustainability, so much so that we manage to obtain zero residue tomatoes. Treatments are reduced to the essential and multi-residue analyses enable us to put the 'product with controlled residue' wording on the label (see below)".

"Our commercial partners appreciate our produce a lot. Tomatoes have an excellent flavor, a bright red color with a captivating shape and the characteristic dimples. The rachis is robust and helps berries remain perfect and appealing even after they are harvested."

"Our protected soilless crops cover 10 hectares and produce approximately 100 tons a year of high-quality tomatoes, mainly of the plum type."

The company processes its own tomatoes in a 500 sq m warehouse, with 10 stations for sorting and packaging operations.

"This plum tomato variety is suitable for multiple uses, and can be even eaten as a snack. Consuming fresh tomatoes is recommended not only because they taste better, but also as a form of food education towards the younger European population due to the fact that they are a tasty alternative to junk food."

"So far, production prices have reached an average of €2.20/kg. Thanks to the high-quality of our productions, however, we have managed to achieve higher prices."
