"Our commitment: taking care of the planet"

Sandía Fashion reinforces its commitment to comply with the United Nations SDG 2030

"A society is defined by what it creates and by what it refuses to destroy (John C. Sawhill)." This quote of the former CEO of The Nature Conservancy and president of the University of New York illustrates the commitment of Sandia Fashion®, a watermelon brand of the AGF Group, to sustainability. The brand is not only committed to the health and well-being of society, as it is also committed to taking care of the planet.

"Our commitment: taking care of the planet"
Grupo AGF has incorporated sustainability into Sandia Fashion's business strategy for the coming years. The group is working on a Comprehensive Sustainability Plan, which translates into a roadmap with specific measures on sustainability in all its areas. It will be included in an annual report that will review compliance with these measures and with the commitment to the United Nations SDG 2030. This plan includes actions in five main axes: emission reduction, circular economy, regenerative agriculture, health and well-being, and social responsibility.

To reduce emissions, the brand plans to use more sustainable packing for its Sandia Fashion's watermelon. This year it is going to use a new box designed by Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, a designer of recognized international prestige that is personally and professionally committed to environmentalism and sustainability.

This new packaging was designed taking into account sustainability criteria and using selecting materials that will reduce the company's emissions by more than 400 tons of CO₂ in the next 5 years. It also means saving more than 1,100 tons of cellulose and more than 190 tons of inks.

Grupo AGF, through one of its associates, is a pioneer in reducing emissions and circular economy. Since 2017, it was the first company in Europe to verify the water and carbon footprint in watermelon cultivation.

"Sandia Fashion, the most sustainable watermelon"
Each new box designed by Agatha Ruiz de la Prada will have a caption that reads: "This packaging's design and manufacturing process were created with the utmost respect for the environment. Now you can enjoy Sandia Fashion while taking care of our environment.”

They will also have a QR code that consumers can scan with their cellphones and that will take them to the www.sandiasostenible.com. website. There, they'll find more information regarding the actions being implemented in the field of sustainability, as well as curiosities and tips to help everyone take care of the planet.
