Expo being held on 6 and 7 June

International seed companies plant the future together at Gatton

11 international horticultural seed companies have come together to start planting as part of the 2021 Lockyer Valley Growers Expo. The Expo is being held on 6 and 7 June and will showcase new vegetable varieties and innovations in seed technology and breeding. The Expo was last held at this site in 2016 and was unable to go ahead in 2019 due to the impact of severe drought conditions in the region.

“All seed companies started planting about six weeks ago to ensure that the best varieties across a selection of different crops is showcased at the expo” said Josh Squibb from Bayer Crop Science – Vegetable Seeds. “The Lockyer Valley produces 120 different horticultural crops and to have ten international seed companies showcasing their varieties will be a really great sight. Bayer Crop Science - Vegetable Seed division have been strong supporters of the Lockyer Valley Growers since it started and our company is very excited about the expo”.

The Expo will be held at the Gatton Research Facility on the Warrego Highway and will also provide machinery and innovative technology demonstrations, cooking demonstrations and other industry specific exhibits.

Josh said “Bayer Crop Science look forward to showcasing their Seminis leafy greens and vegetable varieties suitable for winter production at the expo. We absolutely love the opportunity of showcasing our products and engaging with growers from across Australia and hopefully New Zealand ”.

The other seed companies that will be exhibiting at the Expo are Bejo Seeds, Bayer, Lefroy Valley, Fairbanks Seeds, HM Clause, South Pacific Seeds, Enza Zaden, Terranova, Australis Seed, Nunhems and Rijk Zwaan.

Tickets to attend the expo start at $20 for a full day single ticket and can be pre-booked here
