Large number of attendees from China for the 1-5 May 2021 event

Over 700 registrants for the International Strawberry Symposium

Thanks to the great involvement of Chinese researchers and technicians, and through the collaboration with the Strawberry Association, Chinese Society for Horticultural Science, the International Strawberry Symposium (1-5 May 2021) has more than 700 attendees. There is still time to join without the price increase that will occur in the final days.

"Thanks to the collaboration of professors Yuntao Zhang of the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, Jiajun Lei of the Shenyang Agricultural University and Mizhen Zhao of the Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, we will be able to have a Chinese edition of the 9th International Strawberry Symposium, that will connect live with Rimini and Shanghai," explained Bruno Mezzetti, university lecturer and co-organizer of the event.

The ISS2021 will be a great opportunity to engage in international relations and, in particular, with the Chinese country, which is currently the main producer of strawberries in the world. "This is a great opportunity to gain visibility for the companies that are sponsoring ISS2021. Chinese colleagues will participate in the inaugural event and provide several presentations during the symposium."

The two majestic books on the current state of the strawberry in the world are also eagerly awaited. The volumes are part of the ISS2021 package and include 150 papers (1000 pages) that cover the most interesting researches in genetics, physiology, cultivation techniques, defense, and post-harvest quality that will be presented during the symposium.

The opening ceremony will take place on 1 May at 4 pm and will be attended by the ISHS representative Guglielmo Costa, the president of the IHC 2022 France edition, and the SOI president. There will be a special tribute to three important strawberry historians and researchers who recently passed away: Chad Finn, Rolf Nestby and Edward Żurawicz. These researchers, as well as Professor Rosati, founder of the ISHS strawberry group in 1988, and organizer of the first Symposium in Italy (Cesena, 1988), will also be remembered by granting awards to young researchers selected for the quality of their work.
