Ashley Napolitanto - Sunland Fresh Fruit

Great growing conditions bring a positive persimmon season

The persimmon harvest started mid-March in Victoria, Australia and will run until the middle of May.

“The crop is looking terrific,” according to Ashley Napolitanto, General Manager at Sunland Fresh Fruit. “We have had great growing conditions with good weather with a steady rainfall which has led to good sized fruit and nice colour.”

Sunland expect to harvest approximately 800,000 kgs this season.

“Persimmons are becoming more and more popular on the Australian market and retails are increasing orders each year. To accommodate this we are increasing our acreage here at Sunland. Persimmons are such a delicate and rewarding fruit to grow.”

Sunland also export persimmon to South East Asia and the Middle East.
