BIOGROS able to significantly reduce emissions thanks to IFCO boxes

Luxembourg organic wholesaler actively works to protect the environment

To ensure a more sustainable supply chain of fresh produce, BIOGROS, OIKOPOLIS Group's wholesaler of certified organic food, uses sustainable packaging and transport solutions. Its collaboration with IFCO, the world's leading supplier of reusable containers, helps reduce the amount of resources needed, protecting the environment in the process.

IFCO reusable crates are all made of the same material; they can be reused up to 100 times, after which the can be granulated. This makes them 100% recyclable, without any fuss.

BIOGROS was able to reduce its emissions by 60 tons in 2020, thanks to the green crates. In other words; there were 39 fewer road trips necessary each year. It was also possible to avoid the daily amount of waste equivalent to what 26,000 Europeans produced last year. Furthermore, water consumption is reduced, there are energy savings and damage to the product is minimized, which also has a positive impact on its carbon footprint.
