On Monday, April 12, Denaeghel groenten en fruit from Bruges will start selling the first Chiquita Queen bananas. “The Chiquita Queen bananas are the brand's new premium bananas and are of very good quality,” says Frederick Denaeghel of the wholesaler of the same name. “There are 6 bananas on a bunch, each wrapped in a net and the crown is covered with resin in the Chiquita blue color. The bananas also have a new gold-blue sticker. One box fits 9 bunches and weighs more than 9 kilos net. ”
“The first Chiquita Queen bananas were unloaded at Kloosterboer in Vlissingen last Thursday. Then they were transported to our own banana ripening facility. It is a very new product on the market. The bananas are selected for size and uniformity. A perfect product for the smaller retailers and market vendors. With the Chiquita Queen, they can distinguish themselves from the "regular" supermarket banana," says Frederick.
Denaeghel has had Chiquita bananas in its range since 1978. “Bananas are an important product for our wholesaler. About 10 percent of our turnover comes from the sale of bananas. The corona pandemic has had a positive effect on bananas. Since last year we have seen positive sales of bananas. In times when health is always on the mind, bananas are an ideal and easy product to eat. However, in addition to bananas, we offer a complete range of fruit and vegetables. Retailers and market vendors can come to us for all products and we deliver them to the door,” Frederick concludes.
