The latest advances achieved by Maf Roda in its cherry lines are making it possible to increase the productivity of post-harvest cherry plants. The Cherryway 4 and Cherryscan technologies have become essential for any cherry grower. When working with cherries, you are dealing with several difficulties, including the fruit's sensitiveness and the long peduncle. These two problems are 100% solved with the Maf Roda lines.
The big technical improvements in the Cherryway 4 include a new patented 4-way rotation system, which is unprecedented in the market and is exclusively manufactured by Maf Roda. The new bicone system facilitates making the necessary movements to scan the entire fruit surface while keeping the peduncle intact. This rotation is done completely automatically, without the need for any mechanical adjustments. Furthermore, the new bicone also provides a higher fill rate and boosts the production.
The other major improvements of the Cherryway 4 lie in the reduction of shocks along the line, which preserves fruit quality, and the new feed bar system, which minimizes the entry of double fruits and thus reduces fruit return. Transfers are much smoother. There are points on the line where the impact height has been reduced by up to 85 mm. This is a major advance towards Maf Roda's commitment to maximum fruit care to preserve the fruit quality.
Cherryscan also offers major innovations that improve the line's performance and accuracy. With a more simplified and easier to operate interface, Maf Roda's external analysis system has considerably improved its accuracy in discarding defects compared to its previous version thanks to a clearer view of the cherries. The new system avoids stem interference and has improved peduncle tracking.
One of the most important international cherry producers which have commissioned Maf Roda for the installation of its new cherry line is Boluvero. Its general manager, Andrés Boluda, described the experience as follows: "The quality system of the calibrator has proven to be highly effective. Thanks to its level of parameterization, the control on the types of defects and fruit qualities is much more accurate. Also, the bicone rotation system, patented by Maf Roda, visualizes almost the entire surface of the fruit, greatly improving the detection of defects."
