Vicente del Bosque, the former coach of the national soccer team, symbolically kicked off the watermelon campaign of Almeria's Carrapos group this week by tasting one of the first watermelons that the company will market this year.
The company has more than 300 hectares in production in this campaign and expects to market 22 to 24 million kilos of watermelon.
"We hope it will be a good season for everyone and that it will have a better start than last year," said the CEO and founder of the company, Pedro Caparros. Last year, the watermelon campaign amidst a full lockdown due to the health crisis, which generated a lot of uncertainty in all sectors.
“We have to get used to our new conditions and we cannot look back. We have to look to the future and think positively,” stated Caparros.
