Jaguar The Fresh Company is proud to announce that with immediate effect, Leopard Fruit Trading (Shanghai), a 100% subsidiary of Jaguar, and FoodVentures China, have entered into an agreement for the marketing and sales of fresh produce grown by a new FoodVentures project in Shanghai.
FoodVentures will soon start producing tomatoes and cucumbers according to the Dutch horticultural model in their newly constructed greenhouses on Chongming Island.
Dirk Aleven, CEO of Food Ventures: “The tomatoes are starting to bloom already. The first harvest from the new greenhouses is expected by the end of May. We have started with an area of 3,5 hectares, and the plan is to have 17,5 hectares in operation by the end of 2021.”
FoodVentures will do the project development and the production of tomatoes and cucumbers, while Leopard Fruit Trading will focus on the marketing and sales to Chinese retail and wholesale customers. Leopard Fruit Trading has to date mainly been known for its import portfolio, but from the end of May, it will also act as a supplier of locally grown, fresh produce.
Christian de Haas, Manager Asia at Jaguar The Fresh Company: “Leopard’s commercial team, based in Shanghai is in direct contact daily with the retailers that we intend cooperating with. We are confident that these Dutch-style greenhouse vegetables will create a lasting impact in the Chinese consumer market. Jaguar The Fresh Company is proud to be the preferred partner for FoodVentures in this ground-breaking project”.
