Southern Exposure, April 6-8

Mucci Farms launches mushroom collection and presents new sustainable packaging options

This week, the Southern Exposure tradeshow will be held in hybrid format. Exhibitors as well as attendees will be given the opportunity to choose between an online or an in-person experience. One of the companies exhibiting at the show is Mucci Farms. The team will be in Orlando to meet and greet customers and simultaneously, physical as well as virtual attendees will have access to the company’s realistic 3D virtual show booth. “In the booth, we will be highlighting all of our signature items with a special emphasis on our brand new Cultivo Mushroom Collection,” says Steve Zaccardi, Senior Director of Sales with Mucci Farms. Everyone at the show will be able to visit virtual.muccifarms.com to experience the virtual booth and watch product demo videos featuring members of the team.

The new Cultivo Mushroom collection is Ontario grown and available in white and brown mini bella and portabello varieties. “Mushrooms have long been a protein substitute and the trend continues at an accelerated pace,” commented Zaccardi. “To meet growing market demand, we saw the opportunity to venture into mushrooms.” The offering will expand later in the year with more varieties.

Further emphasis on plastics reduction
In addition to a booth, Mucci Farms will also participate in the Bright Ideas Fresh Arrivals showcase. “Not only will we be featuring our new Cultivo Mushroom collection, we will also be highlighting several new label redesigns of some Mucci Farms favorites and showcasing some popular products available in our award-winning Paper Top Seal format,” shared Zaccardi. Sun Drops, Blended Flavors and Cherto tomatoes are now all available in a 1-pint paper top seal package. “Cherto used to be offered exclusively on the vine, but its popularity in the snacking category provoked us to also offer a loose version, which is available in this pack.” This format reduces plastic by replacing the film with paper, making both the PET tray and the film recyclable.

Naked Leaf Living Basil has also undergone a packaging transformation. “At the show, we are giving customers a closer look at the product that is now offered in a new sleeve. We’ve been able to reduce plastic use by 50 percent, which means half of the sleeve is now made of paper.”
