Packaging Group remains on course for internationalization

Klingele takes over corrugated board plant in Guadeloupe from IP

The Klingele Paper & Packaging Group has taken over the Société Guadeloupéenne de Carton Ondulé (SGCO) production site on the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe from International Paper. This was reported by trade magazine EUWID Verpackung.

The corrugated board plant in Baillif produces corrugated board packaging for bananas and other fruits, for vegetables and for the food industry and beverage trade. The plant, which will in future trade under the name Klingele Cartonnerie de Guadeloupe, has just under 40 employees. With this acquisition, Klingele is continuing on its internationalization course.

The Guadeloupe plant has a corrugator, a flatbed die cutter and two inline machines. Since the packaging produced there is mainly intended for direct contact with food and storage in cold stores, mainly kraftliner is being used as base paper for the corrugated board. In the future, the plant will also source this from the Nova Campina paper mill in Brazil, which Klingele acquired a few months ago.
