Integration between Agribologna and Bia

New organic hub

The Agribologna and Bia consortia have joined forces to create the first organic national hub. Bia is the leading organic producer in Italy with over 3,000 hectares. Agribologna counts 2,500 clients in the big retail chain and commercial, collective and retail channels, 110 members covering 3,500 hectares, 21 active platforms in Italy and 2 in Europe, 35,000 sq m of refrigerated warehouses and 220 employees.

It is not just a project, activities are in full swing to destine part of Agribologna's facility exclusively to the packaging of organic produce. The work to prepare the facilities and logistic operations will start in early May and the objective is to finish by August.

"It is a strategic allegiance born in the International Year of Fruit and Vegetables. In difficult times such as these, we are particularly proud to say that, in addition to high-quality and environmental sustainability, fair remuneration and a fair income are also among the main objectives for Agribologna and Bia. Together, we can cover a considerable part of the territory, also thanks to our position in central-northern Italy," explains Agribologna president Lauro Guidi.

Bia president Antonio Fricano adds that "the two organizations share the same values, vision and objective. Agribologna's organic production will find a natural commercial outlet in Bia. Agribologna's organizational and logistic structure is without doubt an essential and strategic part of our partnership."

"The cooperation between BIA's packaging centers, located mainly in southern Italy but also found in Lombardy and Trentino, and Agribologna's structure will help cover the entire Italian territory. It is an agreement for development and growth that sees a considerable and effective integration when it comes to both production and logistics. The new hub will be entirely managed by producer partners. It is our contribution to the 'From Farm to Fork' strategy at the heart of the European Green Deal."
