Potatoes for processing: calm markets, with a low offer and especially (very) few buyers, from factories or from export.
Bintje: no quotation due to lack of transactions.
Fontane, Challenger: 5.00 - 6.00 €/q, calm markets. (Very) little offer and (very) few buyers (industry or trade). We observe some export activity to southern Europe, while some countries in the east continue to show some interest in buying.
EEX in Leipzig (€/q) Bintje, Agria and related var. for transformer, 40 mm+, min 60 % 50 mm +:
The prolonged lockdown measures reduce the market activity and greatly determine the decline in prices. For the industry, the supply of free volumes remains however weak, but the demand is also almost non-existent. The factories prioritize contracts. The excess tons were paid between 7.00 and 8.50 €/q at the end of last week. Export continues at a reduced pace, to the traditional destinations in the south of Europe at 8.00 - 12.00 €/q packed departure, depending on variety and quality. On the domestic fresh markets, the demand is decent and prices have not evolved: 8.00 to 14.00 €/q at the producer for soft flesh varieties, and 10.00 to 18.00 €/q for firm flesh varieties.
The decline in prices is being felt on all markets. The volumes worked by the industry remain reduced, while the offer becomes more pressing because of batches that cannot be kept any longer. The volumes are difficult to evaluate and remained unchanged last week between 5.00 and 7.00 €/q. Some purchases are being observed at higher prices via intermediate trade. In export, most of the volumes are shipped to Spain and Italy. Eastern countries are not very present.

But the merchandise from refrigerated crates-pallets is 3€ higher (see REKA prices in table below!).
Slight decrease on the processing market: 7.75 - 8.25 €/q for Innovator (8.25 - 8.75 € last week), 6.75 - 7.25 €/q for Agria (7.25 - 7.75 €/q), 7.25 - 7.75 €/q for Challenger (7.75 - 8.25 €) and 6.75 - 7.25 €/q for Fontane (7.25 - 7.75 €/q). Varieties for chips/crisps: stable but firm prices from 9.00 to 13.00 €/q.
Organic potatoes: unchanged producer prices at 40.00 €/q (all varieties and markets combined), returned trade.
Average price free markets for the week ending on March 13th, 2021: 151.04 £/t (+/- 166 €/t), which is a 11.19 £/t increase (+8%).
The movements on the free market remain dominated by the packaging sector. Overall, the markets are calm and the demand is waiting for a possible relaxation of the lockdown measures on March 29th. The partial reopening of venues should create new opportunities. The opening of schools and colleges has revived the demand for those who supply these sectors. The closure of schools for Easter at the end of the month will mark a pause in the demand, although some restocking may occur. The field conditions throughout the country were too cold and humid for planting last week. On lighter soils, some were trying to resume their activities last week, as much as possible.
