"Weather in Sichuan is excellent, Chinese pomegranate trees are already in bloom"

Huili county in Sichuan is known as the hometown of pomegranates. The soil there is fertile and the weather is great, so there is more than enough sunshine for the growth of pomegranates. The seedless pomegranates from Huili are quite large. Their peel is thin and colored a bright red. Their main selling point is that the seeds are soft enough to be edible. The seedless pomegranate is the culmination of 2,000 years of edible pomegranate history.

The weather conditions were great in Huili, Sichuan. Some of the pomegranate trees are already in bloom. Bin Guo Agriculture has a pomegranate orchard in Huili that covers an area of around 200 hectares. Manager Liu, a spokesperson for the company, recently talked about sales conditions in the new pomegranate season and their plans for export.

Bin Guo Agriculture provides local farmers with agricultural resources and pesticides, and their technology team provides farmers with training and assistance. This helps cooperating farmers to reach the strict standards of the pomegranate industry and carry out strict control at every stage of the production process. "We hope to control product quality and establish strong standards, to avoid farmers from overusing fertilizer or harvesting fruit too early," said manager Liu. "When the harvest comes, we will be able to supply the market with high-quality standardized pomegranates. While we control product quality, we also raise the income of local farmers."

Bin Guo Agriculture grows pomegranates in Sichuan and sells them via e-commerce platforms such as JD, Xiaomi, and NetEase, as well as supermarkets such as Hualian Supermarket and Rainbow Department Store, and fruit stores such as Pioneer and Green Leaf.

"We have seen milk tea companies set trends in the market in recent years. Some very popular milk tea flavors stimulate the sales figures of certain fruits. This season Xicha promotes the "dominant pomegranate" and "pomegranate plenty", two pomegranate flavored drinks. This has had a positive effect on the sales of pomegranates. While we continue to maintain our traditional sales channels, we also connect with suppliers who work with milk tea shops."

According to manager Liu, "we have long considered manufacturing processed pomegranate products to raise the product value of our pomegranates. For example, we would like to introduce a ready-to-eat pomegranate cup with edible pomegranate seeds. However, the Huili pomegranates are quite big, very juicy, and their peel is thin, which makes them difficult to peel and process. That is why we have temporarily put these plans on hold."

"Seedless pomegranates are a high-end market product. The price and the product quality are both higher than regular pomegranates. They are very popular with Chinese consumers. The Huili pomegranates are well known in the Chinese market. They even attract attention from overseas buyers. We have received inquiries from importers in the USA and Canada," said manager Liu. "That is why were are planning how to best export our pomegranates to overseas markets."
