IVIA and the Dareton Primary Industries Institute of Australia will collaborate to research citrus and persimmon

The Plenary of the Consell has approved a collaboration agreement between the Valencian Institute of Agrarian Research (IVIA) and the Dareton Primary Industries Institute of Australia to research citrus and persimmon. Both agencies will be tasked with assessing the potential of citrus and persimmon patterns under Australian environmental conditions.

IVIA's improvement program has developed new hybrids with good agronomic performance in Spanish citrus growing areas. Experimenting with this material under Australian growing conditions will allow researchers to obtain information on these rootstocks' production, fruit quality, and tree size under different conditions and soils.

The IVIA has started a program to obtain persimmon patterns tolerant to different conditions linked to climate change. The goal of this collaboration is to get to know the agronomic behavior of these patterns, which were grafted with a series of varieties, under the environmental and cultivation conditions of Australia.
